Gil-Scott Heron, the great American musician, singer, author, and “bluesologist,” penned the famous jazz poetry song entitled “The Revolution Will Not Be Televised,” a powerful call to activism and awakening. In this piece, Heron communicates the reality that the important and profound societal changes will not be brought about through mainstream media coverage, corporate marketing, nor governmental policies, but rather through a change in hearts, souls, and minds that are connecting, collaborating, and co-creating in care, empathy, and love.
